Design thinking shaped by education and on-site experience
Oliver Hidalgo, AIA.
OH Design Lab is an independent architecture practice led by Oliver Hidalgo, AIA, a Chilean-American architect licensed in Kentucky and Florida. Based in Lexington, Kentucky, the studio works on residential, commercial, adaptive reuse, and select institutional and public projects.
Oliver earned his Master of Architecture from the University of Kentucky in 2018 and has worked with local firms and multidisciplinary teams on projects ranging from custom homes and renovations to institutional and public work. His approach emphasizes design clarity, constructability, and well-coordinated construction documentation, helping clients navigate the design and construction process with confidence.
OH Design Lab takes on a limited number of commissions to support close collaboration with clients, consultants, and builders. The studio's work is rooted in early planning, honest communication, and the belief that the best ideas emerge from a close reading of a site's unique conditions, constraints, and opportunities.
Practice
OH Design Lab (pronounced "O-H") is an architecture practice based in Lexington, Kentucky. The studio works across residential, commercial, adaptive reuse, and select institutional projects, with a focus on thoughtful design, technical clarity, and responsive client service.
The practice approaches each project as a unique design problem informed by its site, program, budget, and regulatory context. Rather than applying a predetermined style, the design process begins with understanding the opportunities and constraints that make each project distinct.
Drawing from experience in both private and public-sector work, OH Design Lab places equal importance on design quality and project delivery. Careful planning, consultant coordination, and well-developed construction documentation help translate ideas into successful built outcomes.
The studio intentionally maintains a focused workload to support direct involvement throughout the design process and close collaboration with clients, consultants, and builders.
